Aprox 20 hours/ month (5 hours a week) through February - 30 hours (7 hours/week) in April & May
Hybrid position (local candidates only)- require in-person attendance at community events in/around Lake Norman on some evenings and weekends
College Credit and/or Monthly stipend
Option to continue through Summer 2026 (in-person opportunities available for summer)
Are you passionate about community engagement, event planning, and sports marketing? The Lake Norman HarborHippos are looking for creative, organized, and outgoing Marketing & Community Relations Intern to join our front office team and help grow the Hippos brand both online and in the Lake Norman community.
You’ll gain hands-on experience in sports marketing, community partnership development, sponsor engagement, fan experience strategy, and more — all while supporting one of the most exciting teams in summer collegiate baseball.
This is a remote/hybrid internship from October through May, with the opportunity to continue in person during the Summer 2026 season.
📣 Key Responsibilities
Help build and grow community partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, and civic groups
Assist in executing fan-focused promotions, sponsor activations, and community events
Coordinate game-day activities like giveaways, tabling events, and in-park engagement
Audit existing marketing and help itemize and create needs for ‘26 season
Help manage and grow the HarborHippos’ email newsletter: content creation, scheduling, and performance tracking
Work closely with the social media and sponsorship teams to ensure cohesive campaigns and messaging
Serve as a brand ambassador in the community — promoting games, appearances, and events
Assist in charitable partnerships and coordinate community service activities for players and staff
🧰 Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable speaking with the public and interacting with community stakeholders
Organized and reliable, with strong attention to detail
Experience or interest in sports marketing, event planning, or nonprofit outreach
Familiarity with social media platforms and email marketing tools (MetaSuite, Constant Contact or other digital marketing platforms)
Graphic design and Canva experience a plus, but not required
Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Sports Management, PR, or a related field
Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends (avg 1-3 hour shifts)
Ability to lift marketing materials or event supplies (up to 25 lbs)

In-Person (optional): Summer 2026 (season runs May–August)
Flexible schedule with occasional weekend/evening availability
School credit and/ or Stipend available
